May I first congratulate you for running a campaign to save the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. It's a wonderful hospital staffed by people who love their job and provide an excellent level of care.

I am appalled by proposals to cut a large number of services and transfer them to Worcester. I was given first-class care from midwives at the Alex four years ago when I was pregnant with my eldest son and will never forget their hard work and reassurances.

It's not fair to expect residents of these two great towns to travel such a long distance for healthcare which is our right as citizens of the United Kingdom.

However, I am disapponted in your update last Thursday (October 20) which included a paragraph on a similar campaign launched by the Redditch and Bromsgrove Standard. I enjoy reading both newspapers as they are a credit to the town. My husband brings home the Redditch Standard and Advertiser as well and I must say its nice to see both newspapers standing up for residents.

I do hope this wonderful campaign will not degenerate into a political-style points scoring farce. Does it matter who started a campaign? We all have to pull together at this time and keep the Alex going!
