DEFENDING champions Bromsgrove Indoor Bowls Club got off to a flying start in the Wessex League by defeating Gloucester 95-79.
England under-25 international Marc Stones led the way for Bromsgrove in the home stages of the match.
Together with Peter Bryan, Arthur Grigg and Peter Davis, Stones won the first rink 27-20.
In the second match in Bromsgrove Rob McCaughtrie, Andy Walters, Peter Stokes and Tony Hall defeated Gloucester's team 26-17.
With the home matches won it was up to Bromsgrove's away sides to secure overall victory.
The father and son teams of Aide and Gareth Burbidge and Richie and Martin Hall defeated Gloucester 23-13.
The final quartet, led by Neil Brereton, lost to a tough Gloucester side, but it was not enough to deny Bromsgrove victory.
On Saturday, November 5 Bromsgrove take on Bristol based Yate in the Denny Cup
Bromsgrove then play Malvern in the National Top Ten competition in Malvern on the following day. Spectators are welcome to come down to the club and watch the matches, which start at 10am
