THE ninth annual sale following the Worcestershire show of shire horses, promoted by Messrs Cotton and Chappell, auctioneers of Bromsgrove, took place on the meadow near the Greet Western Hotel, Droitwich. The auction started at 11.30am with working horses in number one ring and foals at 12.30pm in number two ring. There was a large entry that required the two auctioneers selling at the same time to get through it in daylight. The last horse was sold at 5pm. The number of buyers was very large, there being representatives from most towns in England.
THE annual collection in aid of Bromsgrove Cottage Hospital was made at various places of worship in the town. Canon Wilson preached in the morning at the parish church. The service at All Saints' was a church parade of B Squadron Worcestershire Imperial Yeomanry.
BROMSGROVE Rovers achieved a very enjoyable victory at Well Lane when the defeat of Langley St Michael's raised the side a couple of notches in the Junior League ladder. The visitors arrived very late and only 35 minutes each way could be played and even then the game finished in semi-darkness.
