I AM 66 years old and suffer from heart problems but I was so afraid of losing the A&E department at the Alexandra Hospital that I felt I just had to do something.
I went door to door collecting signatures for the Advertiser's petition.
I had a great response from the people of Edgmond Close and I was proud to do this even if I was experiencing pain at the end of my campaign.
But I felt it was worth it to try to save the Alex A&E.
The vast majority of Redditch people say ''No'' to the closure of certain services at the Alex.
What idiots decided to even think of closing the A&E when all the people of Redditch and surrounding areas rely on this service?
They have no respect or concern for the health and well being of the people of Redditch.
Think of the elderly or those with no transport of their own. It would be so far to the nearest hospital, especially in an emergency.
The nursing staff at the Alex do a wonderful job and are always busy so how can justification be given for downgrading the Alex as a money-saving exercise?
How can you put a price on lives?
