THE autumn meeting was held at Rowney Green Peace Hall hosted by Hillside WI. A warm welcome was given by Felicity Rixon, president of Hillside WI.

One minute's silence was held for Brenda Dainty, president of Drakes Cross WI, and Ann Ayres, past president of Hillside WI, both sadly missed.

The speaker for the evening, Lynda Kettle, gave a brief history of her life from art student in the 60s to artist in the present day, spending many years designing for theatre and television, and bringing up her family.

Christine Hickman-Smith, WI adviser, spoke about the sale of WI House in Worcester and the possible move to new premises in Hallow.

After a feast of WI cake and tea, members of Hillside WI performed a sketch to Victoria Wood's poem Saturday Night which was hilarious and was followed by a piano recital by Rebekah Taylor.

The Rose Bowl was won by Barbara Waller from Alvechurch WI for an "Item of Theatrical Memorabilia" which was her programme from the Folies Begere in Paris from the 1930s when her sister-in-law was a Bluebell girl.

The meeting was closed with an invitation by Jill Warner from Wythall WI for the spring meeting on March 30, 2006, and a reminder that the group carol service will be held on December 14 at St Laurence Church, Alvechurch, at 7.30pm.
