SIR - I just thought I would write to all the dog owners who let their dogs foul in the grass at Madresfield.

I went conker-picking in Madresfield every year as a child and now take my children there each year. We live in Worcester and went to Madresfield last Sunday. My five-year-old twin boys and my eight-year-old daughter were very excited at the thought of collecting conkers. We parked the car in a layby and started looking for conkers, when, all of a sudden my daughter starting crying. She had trodden in dog mess. Not only was she distressed, but we also had to throw out her trainers.

People who allow their dogs to foul public spaces are extremely selfish.

SUSAN IMBER,

Worcester.
