US band Electric Six lived up to their name when they descended on Wolverhampton and performed an energising set of old and new tracks.

Lead singer Dick Valentine's comment "you chose to come to see us on a Friday night - that was a good call" effectively summed up the response of the crowd to a set which showcased an excellent live sound and supreme showmanship by the tie and suit-clad musicians.

It included rapturous performances of Gay Bar, Danger! High Voltage and Dance Commander, as well as tracks from the new album, Senor Smoke, such as Dance-A-Thon 2005 and Jimmy Carter.

The band's recent chart version of Queen's popular anthem Radio Ga Ga also featured in the welcomed encore.

The charismatic frontman's unusual and highly entertaining dancing is also worthy of a special mention, as was his lone performance of three songs, clad in just boxer shorts on an otherwise empty stage.
