THREE Stourport residents are set to embark on a cross-Channel road trip to raise money for charity.
Emily Foxall, Matthew Parker and Nigel Richardson will be driving between the landmark towers of Blackpool and Paris on June 11 and 12 in the fourth member of the team - Binny - a 1989 Mini Mayfair.
Money collected will go to Kidderminster's Kemp Hospice, which helps people with life-limiting-illnesses, where the 1,025 mile "Tower to Tower Mission" will end.
Organiser, Mrs Foxall, explained why they are doing it and how the challenge was chosen.
She said: "I wanted to do something to raise money in memory of my mom, who died in August, 2003 from cancer aged just 47. She bought me my Mini and always loved it."
She added: "The three of us were talking in the pub about how we could help the hospice. Somebody mentioned driving between Lands End and John O'Groats but then we decided that this hadn't been done before and this idea sounded better."
It is hoped the journey, which is being part funded by several companies in the area, will become an annual fund-raising event.
Mrs Foxall, who works at Kemp, said: "Already we've had four people say they wished they were doing it. If we did it next year we would probably keep the classic car theme."
Anyone wishing to sponsor can do so at the hospice's new premises in Mason Road, Kidderminster or by calling 01562 865105.
