SMACKDOWN 4 sees a much-improved story mode as gamers work their way from the bottom to the top of the wrestling ladder.
Storylines are identical to those seen in the WWE a few years ago so, although in no way original, they will evoke memories.
Smackdown concentrates on interaction, especially in hardcore matches.
Car alarms trigger upon contact, soda cans fall out of vending machines and glass shatters when wrestlers are hurled into glass surfaces!
Hell In A Cell matches will prove comical because, not only can gamers smash their opponent through the cell, but wrestlers can lose balance and fall off the 20ft structure, bouncing on impact!
WWE Smackdown 4 is the ultimate wrestling game. Wrestlers have signature and trademark moves, action is fast, wrestlers react as they should and the WWE atmosphere is captured perfectly.
The only downfalls are no play-by-play commentary from JR and it is strikingly similar to its predecessor in terms of graphics and controls.
Aside from the minor faults, Smackdown 4 will prove a delight to play.
For just £19.99 on Platinum, Smackdown 4 is worth any gamer's cash, wrestling fan or not. Despite being a great title gamers can't help but ask: whatever happened to the casket match?
