THESPIANS, singers and comedians are being urged to attend an evening at the city's Swan Theatre that is set to launch The Worcester Festival.
This year will mark the third ever festival of its kind held in the city and it already promises to be the biggest yet, with organisers planning more than three weeks of action-packed entertainment.
"There is sure to be something for everyone," said a spokesman for the event.
"And for the first time, the Worcester Festival will incorporate the massively successful Three Choirs Fringe Festival.
"It is a community festival with a huge range of activities including, live music, art exhibitions, raft racing, theatre, workshops, comedy, fireworks and much, much more."
The festival itself will take place from Saturday, August 6 to Monday, August 29, and will run for 23 days instead of the usual 16.
Meanwhile, organisers are looking for acts to take part in the festival and will be officially holding a launch night at the Swan Theatre on Tuesday, February 22, at 7.30pm.
"This evening will be a chance for anybody who has an activity idea or wants to run an event within the festival, ask questions or even to get some information about it," added the spokesman.
"We want to reach out to more residents and visitors than ever before and to see events staged in more venues around the city.
"In particular, we would like to see more sporting organisations, retailers and pubs, clubs and restaurants getting involved so that everyone who comes to Worcester in the summer can be in no doubt that the city is celebrating."
