The tribal look is officially in - but how do you wear big prints without looking like a huge eyesore? Here's the expert advice

THE catwalks are being littered with fashion inspired by African tribal wear, with couture designer houses like Marni and Cacharel featuring the trend quite heavily.

But before you rush to the shops to snap up all the latest gear, think before you spend, says fashion editor Sally Dixon, who works for B magazine.

"Animal print was quite fashionable last winter, and this is a new take on it, which designers have taken one step further," she explained.

"It's a very accessory-led trend, and is incredibly easy to wear.

"However, be careful about what you choose as bold prints won't carry through to next season, while chunky jewellery will."

You don't have to rush out and book that safari to discover the best and latest fashions. Everything you need can be bought locally.

BOLD PRINTS

Dorothy Perkins, in Worcester's High Street, has a disc print long-line camisole, £20, brown Aztec print shell trim halter dress, £30, above, and multi-print halterneck top, £18, which aren't wacky enough to go out of fashion, and should still carry through to next year.

CLASHING COLOURS:

Browns, khakis and dark blues are mixed together with striking shades of red, yellow and orange. They may work better than you think, and you can get away with them this summer.

One of the key aspects of this look is the addition of wooden beads and bangles.
