A GOAL either side of half-time from visiting Wilsons RSVP ended Anchor Falcons' hopes of a cup run.
ANCHOR FALCONS 0, WILSONS RSVP 2
Will Hale was recalled to midfield in place of the absent Alan Evans, otherwise the side was unchanged from the previous week's 1-1 draw against Pillar of Salt, when Rich Bryan's header earned the Falcons their first point of the season.
Midway through the half, a through-ball from the RSVP midfield split the home defence and as keeper Marcus Henney raced out, the ball was neatly planted into the net to put the visitors 1-0 up.
The Falcons came back at RSVP with Paul Park and John Goode probing from midfield but they could not break through.
After the interval, and with club record goalscorer Dave Jenkinson introduced as a substitute, Anchor pushed forward. Rich Bryan was unlucky with a fierce volley and Park had two long-range efforts go just wide. Dyl Wilkins, whose fine form at centre-half earned him man-of-the-match, had a 20-yarder blocked and Mike Griffin was unlucky with an effort that beat the keeper but landed the wrong side of the far post. The inevitable sucker-punch followed when a crisp shot from 12 yards beat Marcus Henney to give RSVP a 2-0 win.
This Sunday, Anchor entertain CMB Sports, meet Dysons 9.45am.
