AS Malvern Hills District Council charges for parking up to midnight at its car parks adjacent to Malvern Theatres, then the least it could do is provide some illumination to the ticket machines.
Anyone arriving after dark, especially visitors to the town, is hard pressed to see the machines, and read the regulations and charges, let alone find the odd coins and places to insert them.
Charging for parking after dusk is just greedy and the penalties for failing to pay, or display a ticket, which the traffic warden has to search for with a torch, are simply exorbitant. Much better to offer free parking in the evenings and encourage visitors to the town.
