FURTHER talks are planned over the future of fields at Sling Lane.
Malvern Hills District Council wants to transfer responsibility for them to Malvern Town Council.
However, MHDC wants to see the fields retained as public recreational open space and is considering adding a condition to the transfer.
The town council is looking at moving the Madresfield Road allotments to the site, opening the way to extend the cemetery, and does not want to take on the Sling Lane fields with conditions attached.
The Heart of Malvern Residents' Association is opposed to any use of the land that would restrict public access.
John Denham, chairman, described it as a "precious area of open space".
MHDC's executive committee, which discussed the issue on Tuesday, will pursue more talks with the town council.
