FORMER Malvern hotel owner Alys Street celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday.
Mrs Street lives at Court House Nursing Home in Barnards Green.
Born in Herefordshire, she has lived in Malvern since she married her husband, Jack, in 1931, bringing up her two sons, David and Julian, here.
She was in service with a wealthy family in London before her marriage and went on to run two hotels in Malvern, the Wadhurst, in Victoria Road, from 1938-1948 and the Montrose, Graham Road, until they retired in 1967.
Mrs Street ran the kitchen and was also a keen gardener and tended the one hectare gardens at the Montrose.
When the hotel was sold, the gardens were compulsorily purchased by Malvern Hills District Council and are now the Waitrose car park.
Mrs Street has three grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Although some of the family are overseas in Dubai and Germany, they all visited her recently when the family were back in Britain for a wedding.
