DAVE Busst is continuing his pursuit for a new striker at Evesham United after being snubbed by Solihull Borough hot-shot Justin Marsden.
The 21-year-old was the subject of a seven-day approach from the Robins, but he opted to stay at Damson Park following a free-scoring start to the season.
Common Road chief Busst, frustrated at the lack of goals from his side in the Southern League Premier Division, is now turning his attention to Willenhall Town's Gary Hay.
It follows the decision by Busst to allow striker Jermaine Clarke to join Nationwide North side Redditch United.
"We need somebody else that will help put chances away for us," said Busst. "We are creating plenty of chances but we are not converting them. We approached Justin Marsden but he's happy at Solihull and does not want to leave.
"I've agreed to let Jermaine go, but I haven't heard yet as to whether he has agreed to the move."
Although Busst missed out on Marsden, he did manage to lure his Solihull colleague, former Stourport Swifts and Redditch United midfielder Rob Taylor.
Left-sided Taylor should start as the Robins aim to jump out of the relegation zone with a home clash against Yate Town tomorrow (3pm).
Yate achieved promotion along with United last term but are also struggling, having conceded 33 goals already.
However, another of last season's promoted sides, big-spending Mangotsfield Town, are second in the division.
Busst said: "Yate had a better start than us, but after the first four or five games, they were rock bottom. But after a couple of wins, they are almost in mid-table. That's what can happen in this division."
Evesham midfielder Grant Pinkney returns from suspension and Jamie Bailey is available for selection.
Thigh injury victim Stuart Hamilton has not yet returned to training.
