The Earl of Rosebery, who addressed a Liberal demonstration at Stourbridge on Wednesday evening, arrived at Madresfield on Tuesday afternoon on a visit to Earl and Countess Beauchamp. The ex-Premier travelled from London by the corridor express due at Great Malvern at 4.15pm. It was not generally known that his lordship was coming to Malvern, but his arrival was witnessed by a number of spectators. Malvern Gazette, October 27, 1905.
"The sweeping of ordinary chimneys, in my early days, was done by boys," a Ledbury octogenarian recalls. "On reaching the summit, the boy would shout 'All Up!' and swing the brush around. But long before the Bill was passed to suppress this gross cruelty, no human being was allowed to go up the chimneys of Upper Hall in Ledbury." Ledbury Free Press, October 31, 1905.

Castlemorton Parish Council decided on Monday to press for an allocation of six bungalows in addition to the eight houses already provided. The district council are being urged to "get on with the job" after Mr T Bradford had remarked that no new houses had been built in the parish for over 30 years. Malvern Gazette, October 28, 1955.
Two hundred patrons attended the annual Halloween Ball at the Royal Oak in Ledbury last Friday. The room was suitably decorated for the occasion and dancing was to the celebrated Austinaires Quartet. The revellers were especially thrilled by the talent of Norman Nicholls, the well-known drummer. Ledbury Reporter, November 4, 1955.

Upton-on-Severn is to have an additional public lavatory - an amenity much needed, particularly during the height of the tourist season. When Malvern Hills District Council's public health committee discussed capital spending programmes on Tuesday, it carried a motion by councillor Dan Shepherd to bring the scheme forward from 1983/4 to 1982/3. Craftsmen from all over the country came to Herefordshire at the weekend, to prove that the ancient art of hedge laying had not been extinguished. Mr Horace Samuel provided the hedges at his home of Orlhams Farm, Leddington, and a large crowd gathered to watch senior and junior hedgers at work. Ledbury Reporter, October 30, 1980.
