AN intrepid explorer is set to share the memories of his conquests with an audience in Pershore.
David Hempleman-Adams will embark on an expedition of a different kind - to the Number 8 Community Arts Centre next month to dazzle audiences with his stories of how he scaled the heights of seven of the world's highest peaks, including Everest and Kilimanjaro.
In 1984, he was the first person to successfully complete a solo expedition to the Magnetic North Pole without the support of dogs, snow-mobiles or any air supplies.
In 1996, Mr Hempleman-Adams became the first Briton to walk solo and unsupported to the South Pole.
In 2000, he became the only pilot to fly a balloon to the North Pole and in 2003 was the first person to fly a balloon solo with an open wicker-basket across the Atlantic, from Canada to the UK.
Describing his experiences he said: "I enjoy it because of the desolation and there are no prisoners taken."
Tickets for the event, on Saturday November 5, at 7.30pm, priced at £14, will be available from the Number 8 box office on 01386 555488 or on the door, subject to availability.
