POLICE in Warwickshire have launched a major search this week - for two dogs.
They need a German Shepherd to join the team as a reactive police dog, and a springer spaniel or Labrador to specialise in drugs detection.
PC John Ward, from the dog handling unit, said: "A lot of people think that police dogs are aggressive all of the time. In fact these dogs are highly trained to do exactly what the handler wants and instantly respond to commands. We also take these dogs into primary schools where they mix with small children, so they need to be totally trustworthy.
"Police dogs live with the handler's family. They go with their handler to work on day and night duties, have rest days and annual leave like any other member of Warwickshire police."
Anyone with a suitable dog are asked to call John Ward on 01926 415203.
