HEADTEACHERS and governors of Wyre Forest schools are being asked to give their views on how cash for teaching pupils with special educational needs can be shared out more fairly.
Worcestershire County Council is reviewing how it distributes the needs - SEN - funding, despite education watchdog, Ofsted, saying the authority's existing method was coherent and consistent.
Councillor Liz Eyre, the council's cabinet member for children's services, said the authority would not be resting on its laurels, despite Ofsted's view, and did "need to improve in this area in terms of more transparency and consistency."
She added: "Our special needs manager has been talking to schools about what could be done, especially around reducing the need for children to have a statement of special educational need in order to access additional resource."
Schools have until November 28 to respond to the consultation.
Councillor Eyre said: "Between now and the end of November I shall be listening to responses even more closely.
"I urge those affected to engage fully with this consultation exercise so that we can get support for SEN pupils right."
