Walsall 1st XI 3 Droitwich 1st XI 0
THREE late, late goals denied Droitwich their first points in the Coaching Solutions West Midlands Premier Division on Saturday.
Spa had seemed on course for a point as the game entered the last five minutes at 0-0.
However, a deflected goal opened the floodgates and allowed high-flying Walsall to win the game.
Captain Paul Atkinson was philosophical about a defeat, which leaves promoted Spa third from bottom.
He said: "I don't care if we lose 1-0 or 3-0, it's the fact we shouldn't have lost at all that worries me.
"It was a tight game where both sides could have won it.
"Once they scored we threw caution to the win and they punished us."
Droitwich were taking on a Walsall side, which had won promotion with them last season.
However, while Spa had struggled Walsall had made a fine start.
Neither side could find a breakthrough until the final minutes when a tame deflected show beat Spa's goalkeeper.
The goal forced Droitwich to go for all out attack and they were hit on the break twice.
Atkinson though believes there are still many positives to take.
He said: "We've lost three games in a row, but we've not been outplayed in any of them."
Droitwich face another testing game on Saturday, when they play leaders Warwick at home (3pm start).
Droitwich's second XI lost 3-4 to Telford on Saturday, with Chtis Hoare and Nick Bates on target.
