Brenda Jenkins, our president, opened the meeting welcoming members and visitors.
Jerusalem was sung as usual. Flowers were provided for the committee table by Millie Harris. Roma read out previous minutes and correspondence received. Betty gave wishes to members having birthdays, also the reading of the financial report.
Members were reminded of the group meeting.
Rene Cridge, of Bromsgrove WI, and Shirley Walker, of Fairfield WI, won the Muriel Brinning Cup for Bowls.
Our speaker for the afternoon was Frank Townsend, a successful genealogist explaining about family tree tapping. He told members about incidents involved with trying to locate some of his ancestors and where they came from. A lot of his journeys took him far and wide, often visiting churchyards, finding happy, sad and very funny poems written on some headstones, making his account quite amusing to listen to. After tea, raffle prizes were given out.
Norma Baliman won the competition for a most unusual bookmark.
Brenda closed the meeting reminding members that November 8 is Bromsgrove's annual meeting when we start another year to enjoy talks, interest, and friendship for 2006.
