IT was nearly a full house for our October meeting. Jenny Marsh welcomed us all and thanked Judy Lee and Jennifer Carter for the lovely autumn flowers. Anne Ballard read the minutes and gave out various news items and reminders. Judy Lee spoke about proposed visits to Birmingham Hippodrome and a tour with Brian Draper in the spring.
Our speaker for the afternoon was Marion Canning who gave a very lively and amusing account of her job as a toastmaster. Her uniform, made in Saville Row, was very striking. A red well shaped jacket with matching waistcoat, gold button and a hand tied white bow tie. Marion has been a toastmaster for 12 years.
Peggy Smith gave the vote of thanks and said it had been a truly lovely afternoon full of fun and laughter. The raffle was won by Lesley MacKenzie and the competition, an unusual bottle opener, by Gill Wilson.
