Cheerful chairman Betty Long greeted 65 members and visitors to the October meeting at the Bromsgrove Golf Centre commenting on how nice it was to see such a happy crowd of ladies.
Joan English reported on a very successful trip to Highgrove in September and that the staff there had thanked us for our 'donation' of £5 per visitor. Then Joan announced the Christmas shopping trip to Cheltenham, with the luncheon at the college restaurant followed by the visit to the German Christmas Market and the Christmas lights.
This trip is proving so popular that every seat on the coach is now booked.
Andy Casserley was introduced and proceeded to tell us about Victorian music - with a difference. We didn't know quite what to expect with a somewhat unprepossessing title, but we were soon shaken into laughter with his Victorian music hall music.
Our ladies were invited to join in and singalong with him. Did we know the words to Two Little Girls in Blue, Lads? No, but we soon learned them. Andy played several instruments - a melodian, penny whistle, recorder, banjo and guitar and quite the funniest song was one which he sang faster and faster - I Want a Proper Cup of Coffee from a Proper Coffee Pot until the audience just could not keep up with him and had near hysterics of laughter. However after an hour of this we all quietened down and had our own real cup of coffee before saying goodnight to everyone.
