WORD loving pupils at a town school took part in a special poetry event.
Visitors from Poetry Slam, a company that works with adults and schools to perform poetry, attended Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School, Crutch Lane on Friday, October 21.
Members of Poetry Slam believe that poetry gives people the chance to express their own ideas in a nurturing environment during special workshops.
Angela Clancy, head of English at the school, said: "The techniques developed by performing poetry teach valuable communication skills, which are useful in all area of life - building confidence and self-esteem.
"Combining writing and drama makes poetry dynamic and accessible."
