THOUGHTLESS vandals have again attacked Plymouth Road Memorial garden, which is undergoing major refurbishment work in time for Remembrance Day.
Vandals have lifted large areas of turf behind the cenotaph, hours after council contractors laid it.
This second incident comes only weeks after the War Memorial was targeted and its marble base broken by skateboarders and cyclists using it as a ramp.
Council head of environmental services Guy Revans said: "It's really disheartening to see all this hard work being ruined by mindless acts.
'The gardens are undergoing a huge programme of refurbishment and were really starting to take shape ahead of the re-opening.
"But work is being hampered by the acts of a few people who could spoil everyone's enjoyment of the area."
Under the programme, the gates and posts have been refurbished, the footpath is being resurfaced, bespoke railings and bollards have been made, new turf and the shrub areas along Plymouth Road have been cleared and restored with a new timber rail installed.
Anyone with information should call Karl Walker on 64252 extension 3421.
