REVIEWING a bad album or film is not too bad, but trying to write about a mediocre album is even harder.
Rachel Stevens may ooze sex appeal on stage, but her second album does not quite live up to its title and will definitely not make you want to "go and get it".
There are some catchy numbers that might have you tapping your fingers on the steering wheel, or having a bop at the bar while you wait to get served but none of them are floor fillers and neither are they top pop material. They all sound very similar and are relatively pleasing to the ear but are equally forgettable.
The singles Some Girls, So Good, and Negotiate With Love are probably the best of the lot, the rest consisting of similar drum beats and her trademark breathy, come-to-bed voice.
Stevens should be praised for trying to carve a niche for herself and find a life after S Club 7, but she's fighting a losing battle if this is the best she can offer.
Her music lacks depth and enthusiasm and is more of a McDonalds value meal than dinner in a top restaurant - briefly tasty, but forgotten after an hour!
