BIDFORD Parish Council celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar by planting a commemorative oak tree in the village on Friday.
The tree was donated by Bidford resident Patrick James and was planted in a special ceremony at Monie Meadow, next to Big Meadow.
Mr James said he had picked up the acorn about four years ago opposite the fire station, and had grown it.
"It wasn't my idea to plant the tree but when Frank Spires mentioned to me they wanted to plant an oak tree, I thought it would be nice to use that one," he said.
