SIR - "More bridges across the river" read your front page headline. As usual, the real problem facing Worcester is ignored.
In January 2000, Worcester bridge closed for three or four days because of the floods. With floods getting worse every year, where will this leave the city and county? Even the provisional local transport plan 2006/2011 does not mention this looming problem.
Another bridge from Tybridge Street to the Butts is needed sooner than later. This must be built high enough to escape future floods and three lanes wide to sort out through-traffic and two-way when needed. Why are we waiting?
M SIMPKINS,
Fernhill Heath.
