SIR - As a long-suffering supporter of Worcester City, I have seen most things related to football. However, I saw a first a week last Saturday during the game versus Northwich Victoria.
The promising City midfielder Sam Wedgbury was injured early in the game, suffering a clash of heads. After ascertaining the seriousness of his injury, and deciding he would need removing from the field of play, the match referee called for a stretcher. After an interminable delay, the stretcher was fetched from the dressing room by the City forward Adam Webster. The injured player was carried off the pitch by a mixture of officials and players.
A question for the City board - where were the St John Ambulance staff who used to attend every match at St George's Lane? Worcester City FC are at the level in the football pyramid where things are done professionally except, it appears, down the Lane.

St John's,
