DAVID Fletcher will be giving another of his illustrated talks in the hall this evening (Friday) at 7.30pm. After Antarctica and Life in a Cold Climate, David's new talk is about Cape Horn and Patagonia. As he is a very accomplished speaker and photographer, this should be an interesting evening. Tickets for adults are £3, children free.
The meeting last week to re-launch the Neighbourhood Watch scheme was very productive and more detailed information will be distributed to everyone shortly.
About 15 people have offered to become involved and the village has been divided up into small groups of dwellings, which can be observed by each of the co-ordinators. Alison Dore, our Community Support Officer, explained how the scheme works from the Police point of view and stressed that they are only as good as the information they receive. Notification of unwanted callers or the registration number of vehicles parked in strange places can be invaluable in catching villains. She also encouraged everyone to put their postcode onto valuable pieces of equipment or antiques with an invisible pen.
Graham Jones agreed to be the main co-ordinator, following the resignation of Elaine Dixon, and hopefully the scheme will take off again with renewed vigour.
The winner of the adult prize at the parish plan party has been found!
