RANGERS' tale of woe continued on Saturday when they travelled to Tenbury with just 11 players plus substitute keeper Steve Newman available.

TENBURY UNITED 2, MALVERN RANGERS 1

Just over a month ago Rangers entertained and comprehensively defeated Tenbury 6-1, and in reality the scoreline could easily have been the same.

After 13 minutes a cross from Steve Maitland saw Rob Cullen strike the crossbar.

On 31 minutes Sam Black was sent in clear on goal but he failed to finish, which he surely would have done last season. Just three minutes later and Mike Cole had a shot go just over the bar.

Four minutes before the interval, Rangers made their territorial advantage count, when a long ball from Mike Cole saw Rob Cullen in on goal and despite being under pressure, he shrugged off the challenge to net.

Arguably the best move of the first-half, a minute before the interval, involving Tim Clarke, Paul Edwards and Rob Cullen saw Ollie Endacott fire against the post.

The only real threat to Rangers' goal in the half produced a good save from Mark Davis.

Within three minutes of the resumption however and Tenbury were level. A left-sided cross to the far post saw captain Jon Welsh head home unchallenged.

Within a further two minutes and a long range shot from Mike Cole thumped against the crossbar.

On 12 minutes keeper Craig Kurkus saved well from Mike Cole before Rob Cullen shot wide having been set up by Ollie Endacott.

The game swung in Tenbury's favour on 17 minutes when Rob Cullen was adjudged to have fouled Matt Kurkus in the area, and Aaron Morris scored from the resultant penalty.

Rangers' had the opportunity to get level after 20 minutes when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Ollie Endacott, Matthew Turner being sent off in the process. However Rob Cullen's spot-kick was saved by Kurkus and the follow-up header went into the keeper's hands.

After 35 minutes Steve Maitland hit the top of the crossbar direct from a corner before Rangers had an Ollie Endacott goal disallowed, presumably for a foul by him.

In time added on, another corner found Mark White, his shot appeared to go well over the line, but the referee and his assistant didn't agree that it had.

Man-of-the-match was Ollie Endacott.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Rangers, sponsored by the Cross Keys Inn, do not have a fixture as Bilston have called the game off.

The following Tuesday evening, Rangers travel to play Riverway with a 7.45pm kick off, players to meet Brooklyn Motors 5.30pm and Oak Apple 5.45pm.
