I wouldn't wish to be drawn into a protracted debate, but I couldn't let the letter from Michael Stewart (Your Letters, October 14) pass without response.
The fireworks were let off before 11pm, a legal requirement, on a Saturday night and the majority of the immediate neighbours were present.
This is not a question of manners but practicality. Does the whole of Malvern Link, or maybe all of Malvern, need personal notification, or just Mr Stewart?
The image portrayed of cowering residents subjected to a firework display is frankly insulting to those residents of Morgan Court, many of whom will have lived through WWII.
Welcome to the 'Nanny State'. With some people having little better to do than complain, I expect to see follow up letters regarding 'Trick or Treat', 'penny for the guy', carol singers etc. Get a life!
