I have just seen a proposal to build a nursing home, several houses and a car park on land just below the old Wells House school, in Malvern Wells.
Many trees would be cut down and none of these concrete and brick structures are needed; hundreds of houses are to be built at North Site, several nursing homes are being closed in Malvern, and Malvern Wells does not yet need a car park.
In addition, a planning application has been made for building above the golf course for an architect's office, presumably a prelude to more attempts to turn us into Milton Keynes (West)!
I trust these applications will be turned down as blatant intrusion into green belt land in an area of outstanding natural beauty, but I fear the usual game will be played - the initial application is turned down, the developers will come back with proposals for two fewer houses, etc. etc, until the game is lost.
There is a time to stand and fight for what is left of England. Why don't councillors threaten to resign en masse if John Prescott overules them? Stop lying on your backs wagging your tails, just like Malvern's favourite animals.
