AN extremely depleted Malvern team travelled to Coventry for this Coaching Solutions League game on Saturday.
BERKSWELL & BALSALL COMMON 15, MALVERN 0
Both goalkeepers were unavailable, along with three first team defenders. Fortunately, Mark Howarth stepped up to the plate and willingly put on the keeper's pads.
Dave Barnes, Aidan Price and Ian Braim were drafted in at very short notice to plug the defensive gap alongside Brian Crump.
As the score-line shows, Malvern were outplayed throughout the game with goals being scored at regular intervals.
The Malvern players worked hard throughout to try to keep the score down and special praise must go to Mike Braim for some excellent runs that put the opposition on the back foot.
Thanks goes to all the team for their effort, but man-of-the match was easily Mark Howarth, who produced some fantastic saves to keep the score down, even though it was only his second appearance in goal.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Malvern are at home against Barlaston.
New players are still needed and anyone wishing to join the club should contact Brian Crump on 07709 800039 (m). Junior training should be up and running in a few weeks.
