MALVERN U13s Marauders played a triangular fixture against Dursley and Bredon at Spring Lane and came away with mixed results.
The matches were restricted to 25 minutes and the Marauders began with a well-contested match against Dursley U13s.
Dursley threatened the Malvern line right from the start, but the Marauders discipline seemed to kick in just at the right time. When the visitors attacking options were finally blunted by some strong tackling from all of the Malvern players, Malvern felt motivated to go on to the attack themselves. The use of the boot from Ed Harris was constructive, giving the Maruaders good field positions.
The home side scored two tries with Harris converting the second try with a very impressive kick, close to the touch-line and Malvern were winners by 12-0.
Against Bredon, it was a very different story. Bredon had a tremendous physical presence with some tall, mature forwards who dominated possession. Bredon scored five tries, with one conversion without reply at the final whistle.
