THIS fixture was moved from the Bredon club to Bushley School on account of a senior cup fixture, but the change of location seemed not to affect the enthusiasm of the teams.
BREDON U12S 14PTS, MALVERN U12S 12PTS
The match was played in very good spirit and in pleasant autumnal sunshine.
Bredon took an early lead through a converted try but Malvern responded by playing some excellent rugby that kept the home side on the back foot.
Malvern's efforts were rewarded thanks to excellent handling by the backs and with the ball shipped out wide, winger Rees Williams found the space to score in the corner. The conversion was missed.
Bredon began to pull their game together and scored a converted try to take a 14-5 lead at half-time.
Early in the second-half, Malvern scored a second try. The Malvern pack won clean, quick ball from a scrum and quick-thinking from scrum-half Joe Pantling saw him opt for the weakly defended blind-side.
Panting's pass was perfectly timed for Rees Williams to run onto the ball and score his second try which Alex Swan converted.
The remainder of the match was all Malvern. Despite forcing Bredon back to their own line and being held up on many occasions by stubborn defending from Bredon, Malvern could not find the breakthrough they needed for the winning score.
