RAUNCHY floorshows dancing could become part of Malvern's nightlife after a bar was given permission to hold pole-dancing nights.
The Vault, in Worcester Road, was this week given the green light to host the sexy shows after no one objected to the proposals.
The bar has also become the the first in town to be allowed open until 3am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Under the request for performance, dance and live music at the bar, owner Karl Crangle attached a statement to licensing officers specifying that he wanted the option of hosting podium dancing and lap dancing.
Clive Lloyd, a licensing officer at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "It's debatable if he needed to add the statement at all, but he's been entirely open about it.
"We are probably a little bit surprised that we didn't receive any comments."
The district council received the original application last month.
Residents and local organisations had 28 days to comment on the plans. The four-week period finished on Tuesday and no objections were received.
Mr Crangle has now been given the go-ahead to play music and have DJs at the bar, as well as having extended opening hours - to 1am on Mondays to Thursdays, and 3am on Fridays to Sundays.
The 40-year-old, who has run the Vault for a year, said the application would give the bar options - but would certainly not mean that it became seedy.
"Pole dancing could be one Sunday a month or, if there is a market for it once a week, I could introduce it once a week," he said.
"But I certainly don't want to affect my Friday or Saturday drinking trade or turn women away.
"This allows me to offer something different to Malvern and I assume the reason I received no complaints is because I don't have any trouble in my bar.
"The application gives me a 3am licence and the chance to have live DJs in the bar straight away. We will probably look at the pole dancing option in the festive period."
