WANNABE musicians are being urged to grab their guitars and tune up for a new Worcester music club.

The Lyppard Acoustic Guitar Club held its first meeting on Friday, October 14, at the Lyppard Comm-unity Centre in Ankerage Green, Warndon Villages, with a handful of people coming along to fine-tune their guitar skills.

The club was launched by American guitarist and Warndon Villages resident Mark Litten, who has been playing for 28 years.

It is open to anyone aged 16 and over and is performance-based, with participants learning to advance their guitar skills before working on performing in a public setting. Mr Litten said he hoped the club would attract up to 30 members and said concerts for friends and family could be planned if it really took off, with a regular raffle to finance performers.

He said: "It's basically a club for people to learn how to perform a little bit more, with a lesson each time to get people on the same page musically, as it were."

The club meets on the second and third Fridays of the month, between 7.45pm and 9.45pm, with the next one to be held tomorrow.

American songwriter Benj-amin Ezra is set to perform in November. For more information, ring Mark Litten on 01905 616742, or come along on the night.
