THERE will be plenty of fromage and vin rouge in Bewdley this month as the French advance on the riverside town to host a special market.

March de France has organised the event in partnership with the Chamber Maids - a group within the Bewdley Chamber of Trade - for Sunday, October 30.

It will be the first time the event has been held in the town, and marketholders will set up their stalls along Severnside with 24 traders coming from the Normandy and Brittany regions of France.

The market will include an extensive selection of French cheeses, sausages and salamis, a bread stall - with a large variety baked on site - and a stall selling ciders and apple juices.

Other goodies to eat and drink include olives, wines, smoked ham, pts, sweets, honey, pure butter homemade biscuits, cakes, duck and goose products, cheesecakes and garlic.

Those with a sweet tooth will be able to snap up farm-made jams, homemade apple-and-Calvados fondant cakes, crepes and fresh pralines.

In addition to the food and drink, there will also be a wide range of gift ideas and crafts, including soap from Marseille, lavender, handbags, wallets, tablecloths and wooden toys, among other goods, on sale.

The event has already proved a hit in Kidderminster and organisers are hoping it will go down equally well in Bewdley. The market will run from 9am to 4.30pm. For more information,
