KIDDERMINSTER'S former British Junior boxing champion Pat Griffin is in training for a return to the ring after rediscovering his love for the sport.
The 21-year-old middle-weight hung up his gloves 18 months ago after becoming disillusioned with boxing - despite winning scores of trophies as a youngster.
But Griffin is now back with a vengeance and is determined to build on his 100 per cent record of three wins on points decisions from his three amateur fights.
The Droitwich Amateur Boxing Club member, who lives in Habberley, will delay his comeback until next year to ensure he is in peak condition.
"I don't want to rush it," said Griffin, who has worked as a doorman at Mirage and DY10 nightclubs in Kidderminster town centre.
"I want to be fighting good lads and I want to get back to the standard I was at before."
Griffin hopes to re-ignite the Wyre Forest boxing scene and will use former Kidderminster Thai boxing champion John Wyatt as his inspiration.
"I want a Kidderminster fan base and I would love to generate something big around the town," said Griffin, who will fight at 75kg.
"I want to become national champion but it won't come overnight."
