KIDDERMINSTER'S Tsunami Shukokai Karate Club clinched the Kimura Cup for the second year running after boasting the best player at the national tournament.

Sensei Solfrid Daniels got her hands on the trophy after winning gold in the ladies black belt kata and adult senior team kata.

She follows in the footsteps of clubmate Emily Powell who was presented with the Kimura Cup after starring at last year's tournament.

Powell was also in impressive form in this year's event at the Crystal Leisure Centre, in Stourbridge, clinching a silver in the adult senior kata alongside Kara Bennett and Sophie Powell.

Adding to her collection, Powell won silver in the youths 16-17 years kumite and bronze in the ladies black belt kata.

Bennett and S Powell also enjoyed individual success, winning bronze in the ladies kumite and 13-14 years kumite respectively.

There were promising signs for the future too with 13-year-old Laura Cole winning gold in the cadet junior grade kata, bronze in the girls 13-14 years kumite and silver in the junior grade team kata along with Natasha Baker and Matt Wooldridge.

Chris Ingle secured silver in the adult brown belt kata and Edward Mitchell bagged bronze in the adult junior grade kata. The men's fighting team of Sensei Dave Powell, Tony Baker and E Mitchell won bronze.

Also taking part were Teresa Lye, Dean Robinson and Jack Brown.
