Stourport

STOURPORT men's first team slumped to their first defeat of the National League North Division season when they lost 3-2 to Leek in agonising fashion.

Phil Lashford's men looked to have done enough to claim a well-earned point when they came back from two goals down to make it 2-2.

But with the seconds ticking down, Leek grapped a last gasp winner to continue their 100 per cent record and hand onto top spot.

Lashford admitted his side were guilty of being too adventurous, going all out for a win rather than protecting a point.

"In hindsight maybe we should have shut up shop and hung on to what we'd got rather than carried on attacking," said the captain.

"Leek have now got three wins out of three and are top of the table, but we really feel we should have taken something from them.

Goalkeeper Ben Dudley was impressive for Stourport, even though he was partly responsible for Leek's first goal when a stroke was harshly given against him.

Even at 2-0 down Stourport refused to throw in the towel and they hit back with two Imran Yousaf strikes from short corners as they piled pressure on Leek.

Stourport seconds beat Barford 3-2 with all of the goals coming during a high-scoring first half.

Skipper Adrian Hoskins converted two short corners to put Stourport in control before Simon Chatterley completed the scoring.

The seconds visit Leek at 3pm on Saturday.

The thirds were left ruing missed chances after being held to a 1-1 draw by Edgbaston at Birmingham University.

They took the lead through a stroke after Rob Lashford's short corner, but were pegged back mid-way though the second half.

And despite creating enough opportunities to win the game, they were wasteful in front of goal. They host Barford on Saturday.

Stourport fourths had a comfortable win over Worcester.

The fifth team were also celebrating after winning 4-2.

Stourport sixths staged a smash and grab raid to win 2-1 at Sutton Coldfield.

A Giles Colwill goal and Neil Stone's late strike were enough to secure victory for the sixths who survived several scares.

Goalkeeper Kevin Hughes pulled off a fine late save to protect the points.

They host Telford fourths on Saturday.

There was a convincing 7-1 win for Stourport sevenths.

Kidderminster

IT was honours even for Kidderminster men's firsts who came from behind and let a lead slip during their draw 2-2 with Kings Heath.

Heath limited Kidderminster's attacking threat by closely marking Matt Edwards but his tactical switch to midfield paid off.

After falling behind, Andy Pocknell struck their equaliser from a short corner with Joe Sorrell putting them in front soon after.

But despite good goalkeeping from Andy Moore, playing his first competitive match for three seasons, Heath levelled the scores late on.

Kidderminster have had a steady start, but with only two points from three games will be anxious for their first victory when they host Coventry on Saturday.

Kidderminster seconds were left clicking their heels after their game against North Stafford was cancelled.

It was a tale of two Pauls as Kidderminster thirds easily overcame Stone to make it three wins out of three.

Paul Adams struck either side of the interval before Paul Rhodes added a third to make sure of victory.

Goalkeeper Andy Venskus and Daniel Griffiths both made useful debuts, but the man of the match award was shared by Paul Rhodes and Jimmy Thorpe.

The thirds hope to continue their maximum points haul when they travel to Walsall on Saturday.

Kidderminster fourths settled for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Old Wulfrunians.

They took an early lead with a good goal from Mike Wakenshaw but were pegged back after the break.

Despite their opponents being reduced to 10-men after a player broke his collarbone, the fourths could not capitalise.

They host Walsall on Saturday.
