STREET performers and traders are being asked to get involved and make this year's Stourport Christmas lights switch-on the best yet.
The event, which is being held on Friday, November 25, will feature a special Yuletide market in New Street for the first time.
Organisers are hopeful that town centre shops will stay open late for the big switch-on that runs from 4pm until 7pm.
They are also looking to illuminate the streets with entertainment and are urging buskers, bands and even fire-eaters to volunteer their services.
Pupils from Lickhill Middle School are taking part in the traditional Three Kings Parade that will wind its way through New Street, Bridge Street, and High Street, before finishing in the Villeneuve-le-Roi Gardens where the switch will be thrown to illuminate the town.
Children from the school's choir will also help fill the winter air with the sound of carols and youngsters from Scout and Guides groups will lead the annual procession.
Organiser Pete Roberts said the festive display has cost £50,000 to assemble and he hopes this year will be the most successful event yet.
He added: "The evening is always a great spectacle that everyone enjoys. Last year 5,000 people packed into the town for the evening. It just gets bigger and better and hopefully this switch-on will be the best ever."
