A "PIECE of drunken horseplay" cost a doorman his job at a carpet firm and £700 at Worcester Crown Court.

Daniel Brighton pulled down a barman's trousers and underwear, exposing his private parts in front of women.

The incident happened in Redwoods nightclub in Kidderminster as the victim finished his shift at 3am, said Delroy Henry, prosecuting.

Brighton had teased the 19-year-old by accusing him of not doing his job properly before grabbing him near a cigarette machine.

Mr Henry said: "It may have been a bit of a joke but it was extremely embarrassing."

Brighton, 26, of Mill Lane, Kidderminster, was sacked from his job as an engineering apprentice at Brintons Carpets when an original charge of sexual assault was laid against him.

The prosecution had since dropped that charge and Brighton was given a not guilty verdict.

Instead, he pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and was given a conditional discharge for 12 months, besides the £700 court costs order.

Michael Aspinall, defending, said it was unacceptable behaviour but was only play-fighting.

He said Brighton still worked as a doorman earning £100 a week.
