JON Baker was a hat-trick hero as Chaddesley Corbett got their West Midlands League Division Two promotion push back on track by beating Penkridge Town 3-2.
In the first half, Chaddesley played well, and deservedly scored three times in a 20-minute spell, thanks to in-form striker Baker.
While the first half had been very good, the second half was very bad and with no shape and ill discipline, Chaddesley were lucky to hang on.
Tony Vale was sent off for alleged aggravated behaviour, and three other players were cautioned.
Penkridge took full advantage and scored twice, had a penalty appeal turned down and had an effort cleared off the line.
Only the goal-keeping skills of Gary Moore and good defensive work kept the visitors at bay.
Hat-trick hero Baker claimed injuries played their part in the second half, saying: "Our first half performance was good enough to overcome most sides.
"At the start of the second half four players were carrying knocks. That's why the shape went.
"The ill-discipline was purely down to frustration".
Manager Martin Westcott described Baker as being a credit to the club, saying: "Jon has never been any trouble. He is a good club man, and is a popular lad.".
Chaddesley entertain Sedgley Town in the JW Hunt Cup, at 2.30pm on Saturday. Players must at Longmore for 1pm.
