A GIANT apple proved food for thought for the children of Willersey School during their harvest festival celeb-rations.
The youngsters were encouraged to bring in coins and use them to construct a huge apple in the playground.
The project was the brainchild of school secretary Sue Jackson - and it has raised more than £50 for Oxfam.
"The idea was to encourage the children to think not just about the harvest in this country but about those in other countries which failed," said acting head teacher Andrew Ferguson.
"They certainly enjoyed it and they are still counting the money.
"I think we have just passed the £50 mark and could go as far as £60."
