WITH reference to the Music for You concerts, once again we have to endure some severe criticism by your reviewer for what is purely an amateur event.

For those who enjoy the variety of music offered and who continue to support this charity event each year, it should be remembered that each person performing gives their services free of charge.

This is not only for the half hour or so on stage, but also travelling to the venue at one's own expense which, for some performers, is certainly from as far as Birmingham and Leominster. This is, of course, for two consecutive evenings.

This time it was Stourport Brass Band's turn to suffer most of the brickbats, so I would wonder if they have the enthusiasm to appear next year.

Kidderminster Town Hall is certainly not a concert hall and if you wish for a balanced sound, then a professional sound system and engineer should be engaged with the corresponding loss in revenue.

Yes, I am a member of an orchestra and travel from Upton-on-Severn for each performance - a return journey of 50 miles. At my own expense - of course.
