CLEOBURY MORTIMER will be Wyre Forest's only representatives in round three of the Powergen Junior Vase after storming past Stoke Old Boys with a 40-0 victory.
A friendly rivalry has been struck between the two club's with end of season friedly fixtures in recent years, but there was no room for sentiment as Cleobury clicked into gear.
After slowly adjusting to life in Midlands Four West South following their promotion last term, the Mortimer men are showing signs of coming into form in the league and cup.
They got their first league win by beating Berkswell and Balsall 46-5 the previous weekend and continued where they left off by running in four tries to knock their Coventry based visitors out of the Vase.
Fielding an unchanged side, Cleobury opened the scoring midway through the first half when Allan Shields managed to slot over a penalty.
Colin Todd was next to score, crashing over for his third try in as many weeks with the forward dominance of the Cleobury scrum beginning to bear fruits.
They added two further tries from wingers before the interval with Tom Griffiths and James Manley crossing the line.
Shields failed with all three conversions, but at 18-0 up Cleobury still took a comfortable lead into the break.
It was the same story in the second half as Shields extended their advanatage by converting a penalty in front of the posts.
Playing down hill and behind a dominant pack the young Cleobury backs, reaping the rewards of regularly training together, tore the Stoke defence to shreds.
There were several chances only thwarted by desperate last-ditch tackling before they managed three further tries from replacement winger Nick Griffiths, full back Julian Harding, and veteran Pete Howman.
Two conversions from Shields saw them march into the next round with a fine 40-0 victory.
