WORCESTER Ladies suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost 29-14 at Clifton after failing to capitalise on having most of the possession.

It took Clifton 15 minutes to put the first points on the board, a penalty, after a constant build-up of pressure. That was followed quickly by their first try through Welsh international Claire Flowers who scored under the posts.

Minutes later, after some poor defence by Worcester, another try was scored with Welsh centre Naomi Thomas scoring under the posts.

Worcester did, however, have most of the possession during the first-half but failed to play in the right areas of the field. When they were within scoring distance, indecision and a lack of urgency allowed mistakes to be made.

The second-half saw Worcester again having most of the possession but it was not until mid-way through the half that thay scored the first of two excellent tries.

Claire Allen and Amber Penrith got their names on the scoresheet.

Clifton bounced back, however, with two tries -- both resulting from errors made by Worcester.

But the Sixways second team had a day to remember, thumping Tewkesbury 61-0. Centre Georgina Fenton led the scoring bonanza with five tries.
